This week started out like usual... Monday-do laundry, buy groceries, teach and visit (and a stop by at the young missionaries' P-day activity); Tuesday-more teaching, visiting, and meetings, and so on. By Thursday, our ordinary week suddenly changed. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Let me start with Monday. The young missionaries were playing volleyball, and Elder Bates kept playing like he was on a soccer field. I had him do a reenactment. This went over the net in the game and in this picture.

Tuesday Fred came to visit us in Albertson. We took him R-Mart for lunch. Fred was in our ward in Goldsboro when we lived there years ago.

Monday we taught Monica and talked to her about coming back on Wednesday to talk to her dad again about asking permission for her to be baptized. She thought that was a good idea. So Wednesday, we talked to her dad, and this time he said "Yes!" She's very excited! She's had all the lessons twice. She's been reading The Book of Mormon every night and loves it. She is such a sweet girl.

Thursday night is when our ordinary week started to change. Joseph, our youngest son, called and said he was just called to be in the bishopric in his ward in Salt Lake City. He wanted his dad to ordain him a high priest if possible. The first thing Dwight did was ask President Stevens for permission to take a quick trip to SLC and what it was for. The first thing I did was look at the cost of flights. The cheapest thing was $600. Well, Joseph works for Southwest Airlines and can fly us standby. Dwight doesn't mind doing that. It makes me really nervous. So Dwight went on a super quick trip to ordain Joseph. I'm really grateful he was able to do that. And I'm grateful Joseph will have this opportunity to serve.

There were a lot of things that made me happy this week. BYU is now 5-0. Dwight's sister Linda made Sunday dinner for me. Dwight didn't have to pay $600 to fly to SLC. There were also things that brought me true joy this week--seeing Monica hug her dad after he told her she could be baptized, the good conversation I had with Linda and Donald after Sunday dinner, having Dwight ordain Joseph, and seeing dear old friends. Things that bring true joy are lasting. I am grateful for the things of the Spirit that bring me true joy every day.
